GU Roctane Electrolyte Capsules have been formulated to fuel ultra endurance training and racing. Each capsule provides the essential electrolytes to fill in the gaps from sweat loss, with 140mg of Sodium, 9mg Magnesium, and 125mg Chloride, with the addition of ginger root to provide a soothing sensation in the stomach, Vitamin D and Vitamin B6. Only electrolytes with scientific evidence supporting supplementation during exercise have been included. GU have also found many athletes are not getting adequate amounts of vitamin D, despite a lot of time spent outdoors in the sun. Vitamin D in Roctane Electrolyte Capsule can help to supplement this deficiency while the added Vitamin B6 and ginger help to prevent nausea. Ginger can also enhance the rate at which stomach contents are emptied. Use GU Roctane Electrolyte Capsules before, during, or after endurance events and training to replenish electrolyte levels from any energy-demanding activity resulting in sweat loss.
There are several reasons to replace electrolytes during exercise. One is to help maintain plasma volume which is depleted by sweating, another to prevent hyponatremia from over-ingestion of fluids during exercise. Sodium is the main electrolyte lost in sweat, and along with magnesium and chloride are the only electrolytes with scientific data supporting the need for replacement during exercise.
Roctane Electrolyte Capsule can be used before, during, and after exercise. Its recommended intake depends on conditions, terrain, and one’s physiology. They can be used at 1-2 capsules/hour whenever electrolytes are needed to combat sweat loss.
Does vitamin D supplementation help exercise performance?
Vitamin D deficiency is common among athletes. In individuals that are vitamin D deficient, supplementation can improve exercise performance.
Why is vitamin B6 in the capsule?
Vitamin B6 can help combat that unwanted nausea when athletes push their limits to the max.
Should I take the capsule only during exercise?
No! Roctane Electrolyte Capsule can be taken anytime you feel the need to replenish or prevent electrolyte losses due to exercise. It can be taken before, during, or after high intensity efforts.
Why is the electrolyte potassium not in the capsule?
There is no data to support potassium supplementation during exercise. Blood potassium concentration does not change or increase during exercise, as potassium is released from muscle contraction. The increase in potassium during exercise is less dramatic as an athlete becomes more trained, which may help prevent fatigue and has been associated with elevated potassium concentration (potentially due to alterations in membrane depolarization). Several studies have even shown that potassium ingestion during exercise doesn’t change blood potassium concentration. For these reasons, potassium is not included in the Roctane Electrolyte Capsule.
How do I incorporate this Roctane electrolyte capsule with other GU products?
Some individuals need more electrolytes than others. The athletes that end each workout looking like a salt stick tend to need more electrolytes than others. These athletes can supplement the electrolytes that are already in GU Electrolyte Brew, Roctane Ultra Endurance and gels with 1-2 capsules/hour as needed to help replace electrolytes lost in sweat.
