The picture was grim – the night had been long. The daily run felt so wrong!
Team Fuel Me team member headed out on a gentle 16km after a 120+ km week prior, having packed well well into the night following the Black Friday Sale, and a late family birthday the day before!
At 3km they knew this wasn’t going to be pleasant – BOP heat had already topped 25 C by 10 am in NOVEMBER. The perfect opportunity to test Revvies. Initial comment is familiarize yourself with opening the packet. It has a simple peel here which is not obvious if you are running without glasses when you need them. TFM thought well this isn’t going to much use while running when they attempted to chew through the package – (not really possible).
TFM trialed the Cola Lemon Spark. The idea is you place on or under your togue – TFM found it wanted to stick to the top or your mouth. The taste wasn’t offensive so no need to run for water. It took about 20+ minutes to dissolve. At the 11km mark while it training was going a little better than predicted TFM wasn’t sold. So they tried another – this time trying to make it stay under their tongue – it didn’t really want to. But the final 5km whizzed by partly helped by the flat return and TFM believes definitely lifted by Revvies. They were even able to put in a burst over the last few kms.
TFM felt this would be good option for those who respond to caffeine in the final phase of an ultra – but undecided whether they could use throughout. It would also be good as a boost for high intensity efforts when you may not be firing as you may usually.
